Religious meaning:
If we consider all the letters of the word “Shree Jagannath”, it has the meaning as follows.
‘Sree’ means Lakshmi, splendour, beauty, and light. Lord Jagannath is the power of devotion, love and beauty. He is the heavenly light, He is the all-manifest, He is the guide.
‘Ja’ means Origin, Vishnu, Parent, Teja. Lord Jagannath is the cause of all creation. All goods are created from him. He is the source of Vedas, Mantras, Yoga, Wisdom etc. He is the adorable god Vishnu, he is the parent of all living beings. He exists as the supreme power of the world.
‘Ga’ means Heaven, Heaven, Master. That is, He is eternal, deep like the ocean, tender like a flower. He is the Guru of all, it is the wish of all to take shelter under his Sricharan.
‘Na’ means incorruptible, imperishable, innocent, and pure. Sree Jagannath is the embodiment of the immortal, eternal, indestructible God.
‘Tha’ means mountain and protection. He is invincible, an orphan, a destroyer of fear, and a benefactor. He will remove everyone’s grief.
Regional Names:
Lord Jagannath is known by many names in Odisha like- Jaga, Kalia, Malike (Owner), Darubrahma, Daru Dian (God made of wood/wood), Jagga, Jagbandhu (friend of the world), Kalia Santa (black-faced deity), Chaka Akhi/Chaka Nayan (Round-eyed deity), Chaka Dola (god with round eyes).
Mystery of Jagannath’s idol:

1. The fourth idol or Chatrutdha Murati:
Mahaprabhu is present at the Shri Mandir with his elder brother Balabhadra, sister Subhadra and Sudarshan Chakra. The positioning of these four idols is also called the fourth idol or Chatrutdha Murati.
2. Renewal or Nabakalebar:
The reincarnation of the Lord creates a shiver in the shell His old idol is replaced during the transfiguration or Nabakalebar of the Lord. Many rituals are performed according to this tradition. Many devotees from all over the world come to Jagannath Dham to witness this ritual.
- This tradition is celebrated every 12 years.
- The Daru is explored ahead of time for Nabakalebar, the Daitapaties (priests) have to look for the Daru wood (the special Neem tree).
- After many pujas and rituals, the wood is brought to the temple.
- Idols of the four Gods are made of this Daru wood.
- The Bramhapadartha (Spirit matter) is extracted from the old idol during the Nabakalebar. There is a saying that this wood substance is the heart of Lord Krishna. After the death of Lord Krishna, his heart was not destroyed, which is still preserved in the form of Bramhapadartha (spiritual matter). According to tradition, the priest’s eyes are closed when the spirit is changed He is also wearing a glove on his hand. He doesn’t even know how the Bramhapadartha even feels.

Jagannath’s family:
Jagannath has family connections with many ancient gods and goddesses in Puri and Odisha.

Jagannath Temple:
